Strategic Plan for Wastewater and Stormwater of Almada Municipality
The resident population in the municipality of Almada is approximately 172,000 inhabitants. The plan included the evaluation of initial elements and characterized and described the main existing drainage infrastructures, stating population served, characterization and delineation of basins and sub-basins, brief characterization of reception points and wastewater, flow design, quality parameters and legislation. The project addressed key development challenges and options and characterized the works to be rehabilitated and to be executed.
The hydraulic simulation of the supply system was carried out, including 25 reservoirs (43 cells, with a total storage capacity of more than 85,000 m3), 25 main pipelines (over a length of approximately 72 km, with pipe diameters varying between 80 mm and 800 mm) and 9 pumping stations (35 pumps in operation).
